Rambouillet

The Rambouillet is also known as the Rambouillet Merino or the French Merino. The breed is well known for its wool, but also for its meat, both lamb and mutton. It has been described as a dual-purpose breed, with superior wool and near-mutton breed characteristics.

Bannur Lamb compares with other sheep breeds in economic terms and also places to source infrastructure Bannur sheeps are also called as Bakrid sheeps as they are on high demand during this festival. This breed is distributed in the entire districts of Mandya and Mysore in Karnataka.

Deccani

Deccani breed is spread over the greater part of the central peninsular region, comprising the semi-arid areas of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It covers the major part of Maharashtra (especially the Pune Division); parts of Kurnool, Mehboobnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Anantpur, Warrangel and the entire districts of Madak and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh; and Bidar, Bijapur, Gulbarga, and Raichur districts in Karnataka.

Bellary

Not very different from Deccani. Sheep found to the north of the Tungabhadra River are called “Deccani” and those to the south of it, “Bellary”. It covers the major part of south andhra pradesh, Bellary, Bidar, Bijapur, Gulbarga, and Raichur districts in Karnataka.
